My high school graduation was in 1997. It’s also the year VHS started to look obsolete when compared to DVD. Ten years later, before the video tape completely degraded, I converted the recording to a format that’s future-ready.

I was hired as a student clerk for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in 1996. After working for a short time, they noticed my budding skills in web design. After designing this site I realized there’s truth to the phrase “less is more.”

This essay examines the trend of decreasing job security by starting with a historical perspective and then builds towards the present. The analysis draws connections between an increasingly technological society and its effects on our job stability. Although I wrote the paper in high school (almost 10 years ago), my observations glanced the growing concerns of globalization.
