This journal has a very specific mission: I will record all the steps and events leading up to my fiancée’s immigration from Belgium to the United States. My intention is to organize my effort so I can reference where I’ve been and what I’ve done.

The structure of this journal is such that all entries are listed in reverse chronological order (the newest ones first). There are three categories of entries: Research, Forms, and Extra.

• Research entries will be the most frequent. I’ll be looking for answers on the Internet about the whole process of immigration, from start to finish.
• Forms entries will be less frequent because they will relate to actual forms I have sent to the US Government or forms which I have received.
• Extra entries will display information like this, which is purely conversational and doesn’t directly relate to immigration research or forms.

You’ll also find a navigation menu on the right-hand side with useful links and various RSS feeds.

This journal is first for Kristien and me, but it’s also for anyone who’s trying to bring his loved one here to live in the USA. We can all benefit from this effort and I’ll try my best to post accurate information. Of course, there’s always a story. In my next post I’ll tell a few details about how Kristien and I first met and what eventually led to our engagement.
